Crime writer Sue McCormick marked National Crime Reading Month with a well-received event at Georgetown Library in Dumfries and Galloway.

Local author Sue read some excerpts from her first novel, Red as any Blood, the first of the Holly and Ivy mysteries, and told the audience about the writing process behind her work. There was also a lively Question and Answer session at the end of the event.

The second of Sue’s Holly and Ivy Mysteries  – Sharp As Any Thorn – will be published on September 17 and there will be a launch event at Chapters Books in Thornhill, details to come, and in October, Sue will stage events in Aberystwyth, where the book is set.

Run by the Crime Writers Association and its partner Reading Agency, National Crime Reading Month featured authors’ events in venues including libraries, theatres, church halls, bookshops, schools, colleges and online, including several in Dumfries and Galloway, and ran throughout June 2026.
