Brilliant news as the Bloody Scotland crime writing festival announces the longlist for the prestigious McIlvanney Prize and among the writers is Dumfries and Galloway author May Rinaldi with her debut novel Liar Thief. Well done!

Absolutely gobsmacked to me longlisted for this – and shortlisted for the Debut prize at BS too. First time there’s been an all woman shortlist for the debut prize. One thing I want to mention is that two of us were first published in our 60s – who says writings a young person’s game?
