We have received this from local crime writer David L Haigh.
‘It’s fifteen years since my last talk to a gardening club. However, I have been talked out of retirement by a neighbour.
On Thursday 19th November 2026 starting at 2 pm I have been booked by Urr Valley Garden Club to present from “Cabbages to Crime,” in Haugh of Urr Village Hall.
The talk will reflect my transition from gardening to writing crime fiction. But I will never leave the world of gardening behind.
In fact a recurring theme in my novels is the link to plants and the natural world. Like me the main protagonist has an allotment.
Photos of gardens and extracts read from my crime novels namely: Land Kill. Hooked by the Past, and a Fruitless Revenge plus my memoir Born To Dig: A Gardener’s Chronicle will be included. Signed copies will be available to purchase.
The guest entrance fee is £5.00 person in cash on the door.
